Need a quick day out from Medellin then why not join us as we head off to Rio Claro for the day. We will pick you up and take you off to explore this reserve and give you a chance to cross it off your list of places to visit in Colombia.
Enjoy Rio Claro Reserve for a full days tour as we leave Medellin and take a three hour drive to the reserve passing through incredible backdrops and breath taking views. Once we arrive at the reserve we will have the options to go explore and participate in various activities we have planned for you from caving and rafting, or just go find a spot and relax for the day taking dips into the refreshing river. Or go explore the trails, get a rubber ring and float down the river.
This tour starts with a pick up at 6am and then we will head off. This package gives you the options to take either the two planned activities we have planned for you or the flexibility to go and relax. This includes all entrance fees to the park and transport from Medellin.
All travel between Medellin and the reserve and back to Medellin is included.
A traditional meal on route to the reserve will be provided. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

- Timings Departures
We will depart Medellin at 6am for Rio Claro Reserve in a minibus.
We will depart Rio Claro back to Medellin early evening.
Please note that the above is a preliminary itinerary and may vary due to factors such as weather conditions, access to river portage points and seasonal changes and local activities. During periods of extreme bad weather, for comfort and safety canoeing or caving may be cancelled.
Equipment and Clothing:
Suggested to wear clothing you do not mind getting wet (swim suit, shorts etc)
Spare set of clothing for return journey, Towel (you will be wet from the activities, can be left in vehicle)
Comfortable footwear (will get wet)
Sun block, Hat, glasses etc.
Camera (waterproof bag for camera)
Small bag to place your spare clothing etc inside
Torch (can also be purchased for the caving)
CASH – Only cash is accepted in the reserve (to buy your drinks, snacks etc)
You should have a general level of fitness and enjoy the outdoors. You should also be comfortable travelling in close proximity with others. Minimum age 10.
It is advised to have your yellow fever jab up to date and remember it is suggested that you receive this 10 days or more before you travel to insure of its effectiveness.
Bring all medicines required for personal use to cover the length of your trip.
There will be times of heavy rains but the areas we are in will still feel warm and this at times could lead to mosquitos. (Malaria prevention – tablets etc)
No previous experience is required. Caving & rafting can be physically demanding. You must be able to swim a minimum distance of 10.
Insurance – We suggest you check with your insurance provider that you are covered for these activities you wish to participate in.
NB: We advise you not to buy equipment or clothes for your trip or to incur other non-refundable expenses such as flights until you have received confirmation of your booking from us in writing. Note of course that the most appropriate clothing to use as well as the level of challenge experienced during any outdoor activity may vary significantly depending on factors such as the time of year and the particular weather/temperature conditions during your trip.
